17 month update

Sophia turned 17 months yesterday!

Weight:
12 months 24.2
15 months 26 pounds
17 month: 26 pounds

Sophia is very determined to get what she wants. If something is sealed shut, she will go into a lower cabinet and get a plastic knife and try to open it herself. We’ll watch her (closely so she doesn’t cut herself) and she’s done this acouple times. We’re not sure how she knew to get a knife to open things but she does it. She counted to three yesterday for the first time. We were VERY proud of her! I’m trying to get her to do it again on video!

Feeding herself – she’s VERY independent and refuses to let us feed her. She does really well with a fork now and is still working on the spoon. Depending on what she’s eating she doesn’t keep much on the spoon before it hits her mouth.

New words: vacuum, clock, Cinderella, Maya, Charlie, Owl, who who (noise of an owl), octopus, ear ring, hair, muah for kisses

Loves and is obsessed with hats. She’ll find them and puts them on and refuses to take them off, especially her santa hat that she calls her ho ho ho hat,

Clothes: 24 months and 2t – size 5 diapers and size 5 and 6 shoes

Food: She hasn’t been eating as well as she used to. It’s hit or miss, if she doesn’t eat much for breakfast and lunch, she’ll eat a big dinner. She loves snacks and gets them out herself. She still isn’t a huge fan of meat and usually only eats chicken. She’s still drinking Vitamin D organic milk and water. She prefers to eat with a spoon and fork (even finger foods).

Sleep: She’s still a great sleeper. She goes to bed at 8 and doesn’t get up until around 7:30 a.m. She’s down to one nap a day for an hour and a half to two hours.

Activities: Her favorite thing to do is to be read to, or she’ll sit in her chair in her room, with a book and pretend to read to her teddy or her babies. She loves singing, being sang to, playing ring around the rosies, watching her favorite movie Sofia The First, playing tea party, wearing hats, playing with her babies, coloring, drawing with markers, changing her baby’s diaper, putting together puzzles (up to 8 pieces)

Soph has also been saying “pee” and she’ll run to the bathroom. We take her pants and diaper off and put her on the potty. I think she thinks it’s a game. She still hasn’t done anything on the potty but we’ll continue doing this so she can get used to the idea of sitting on the potty. I think she’s saying “pee” as she’s going so if I can get her to say it before she pees we’ll be in luck. 

Teeth: 12 teeth – 6 on top and 6 on bottom – 2 more are popping through now.
