18 months

I cannot believe my little girl is already 18 months old. It makes me soo sad that she's growing up soo fast!! Before I start a tear fest...here's her 18 month update:

Weight:
12 months 24.2
15 months 26 pounds
17 month: 26 pounds
18 months 26.5 pounds

Sophia amazes us every day. She knows 90% of all the letters. She gets confused with “Q” and will call it “O” and sometimes calls “N” a “M” and she doesn’t have Z down yet, but other than that, she knows her letters. She has also been counting. Every day, multiple times we’ll go upstairs and she climbs them herself. We count each stair, usually she’s talking about something else but then she’ll say 8, 9, 10. She doesn’t say 1-10 but she will throw in a 4, 5, 6, here and there and at the right time.

Potty training: we put Soph on her potty chair every night before she jumps into the bath tub. She has gone potty twice in the chair. This week she’s had less interest in sitting on it. Before, she’d sit on it for 5-10 mins, now it’s less than a minute. We aren’t pushing her so we’ll just let her do it when she’s ready.

Feeding herself – she’s still feeding herself most of the time. She loves having a spoon and fork at each meal.

New words: since she repeats EVERYTHING we say it’s hard to remember everything. Here’s acouple words I can think of off the top of my head:, love you, gym, cooking, bath, Eric, boy, girl, Ashley, Elliott, okie dokie (grandpa Jim taught her that), zebra, lion, play. She has also started putting acouple words together. Acouple nights ago she repeated me when I said “where is it?” My favorite is “love you” and my heart melts EVERY time she tells me. I tell her several times throughout the day/night that I love her and she ALWAYS says it back. It’s super sweet!!

Sophia thinks every boy is named Eric. When we’re in her gym class she walks up to them and says “Eric.” Her sitter Julie’s son is named Eric so she thinks everyone is Eric.

Clothes: 24 months and 2t – size 5 diapers and size 5 and 6 shoes (same as last month)

Food: She has been really weird about eating. She refuses to eat something for lunch, but will eat it for dinner. Or she’ll refuse to eat something for me, but will eat it at the sitters. Her favorite food is still applesauce and she’ll say “apple” almost every night as she wants applesauce with her meal. When she finishes her applesauce she’ll say “more.” When she is finished eating she’ll say “done.” If we don’t clean her up and clear her plate fast enough, she’ll throw everything on the floor. We’re working on breaking her of this habit. She drinks organic milk every morning with her breakfast and still loves it. She drinks water throughout the day and night and recently El gave her orange juice but diluted it. Soph loves juice and will say “juice” and point to it when El is drinking it. She very rarely gets orange juice and normally only gets it when I’m not home lol! I've never been a fan of giving kids juice because I saw kids when I was growing up with rotten teeth because their parents gave them a bottle of juice before going to bed.

Sleep: She goes to bed around 8 or 8:15 and doesn’t get up until around 7:00 a.m. Since Elliott has been home, she’ll go down at 8 p.m. then scream at 8:15 so we’ve been getting her, bringing her downstairs until 8:30 when she’s really tired, then we’ll put her in her crib. We’re thinking we should probably just change her bed time to 8:30 but some nights she’s exhausted at 8. She’s down to one nap a day for an hour and a half to two hours. She cannot sleep in her crib without all her friends – horse, Minnie Mouse, a baby or two, her seahorse, bunny and monkey.

Activities: Soph LOVES going to The Little Gym. She has so much fun playing with the other kids, running around, hanging from the bars, walking on the balance beams, etc. She still loves books and runs to her room every night when I tell her it’s time to read a book. She also loves being the center of attention and will really ham it up when people watch her. She loves stickers and putting puzzles together. She likes to pretend she’s talking on the phone and will hold it to her ear and will run around the house having a conversation.

Teeth: 14 teeth – Soph LOVES brushing her teeth, especially in front of the mirror in the bathroom. She’ll say “toothpaste” when I give her the toothbrush. I think she really just sucks the water and toothpaste off but our dentist said this is fine for now. She’ll have her first dentist appt. in August when she turns 2.

Soph's 18 month well visit isn't until March 1 so I'll update with all the stats then.
