Super Games Birthday Party

We went to my friend's son's 6th birthday party at Super Games this weekend. Although Soph was the youngest kid there (by over 4 years) she still had a blast.

Boots and Babies

Soph has been obsessed with two things....her new boots and all of her babies.

She likes wearing her boots everyday...even over her pj's:

I forgot to post these pictures from two weekends ago when it was warm. Soph never put her baby down:
Even though it was hard for her to ride on the bike while carrying her baby....she managed.

Soph loves her babies and will kiss them, hug them, change their diapers, tell me they are "crying" and she even tries to feed them.

19 months

Weight:
12 months 24.2
15 months 26 pounds
17 month: 26 pounds
18 months 26.5 pounds
19 months 27.5 pounds

Sophia knows all her letters when you give her a letter and ask her what it is. She’ll get them confused from time to time or will be stubborn and when you ask her what letter it is, she won’t even look and will yell “e.” But for the most part she can usually say all the letters and get them right. Our sitter couldn’t believe it when she took her to the mall play place and she passed H&M and Soph yelled “H” and then “M.” Our sitter also told us she’s hoping our Soph will help the other two kids (who are two) with their letters and numbers. She still counts to three and will say other numbers just not all together yet.

Soph started taking her pj's off and then she tries putting them back on.

Soph has a great imagination. She will take her fake ketchup bottle and pretend its shampoo and put it in her hair and wash it. It’s soo cute.

Potty training: she likes to sit on her potty but she always has her clothes on lol! We still put her on it from time to time before her bath but we aren’t pushing it.

Food: she is still hit or miss with eating. Some days she barely eats and other days she eats great for each meal. She loves ice cream (like her daddy) so Misty gave us the idea to freeze her yogurt cups and give those to her as her night time snack and call it “ice cream.” She gets soo excited and yells “ice cream.” The past three times we went out to dinner, instead of getting her a kids meal, I’ve been ordering her a side of black beans and she’ll eat those. Time after time I’d order her the kids meal whether it was chicken tenders or nuggets, grilled cheese or mac n cheese all paired with fruit and she’d just eat the fruit or one bite of something else. So I decided to skip the kids meal and order her something I know she loves –beans. The servers always look at me funny but hey, whatever works. Speaking of going out to dinner – this has started to become a challenge. Since she isn’t eating much, she doesn’t like to sit still for long and she isn’t a fan of the high chair. This week we tried the booster seat and she liked that much better. However, after awhile she still wanted up so we’re working on that.

New words: I think these are new words but honestly I don’t know what’s new anymore: hey, princess, pillow, blanket, napkin, straw, man, mine, all gone, here it is, and door.

Clothes: 2t and some 3t, size 5 diapers and size 6 shoes

Sleep: We’ve been letting her stay up later until around 8:30 and she gets up between 6:30 – 8 it just depends. She has to sleep with her light that has all the stars and moon on the ceiling and with all her stuffed animals and babies. We recently put a pillow in her crib and she loves it. The past couple nights she’s been crying when we put her down. After about 10 mins of crying, we’ll go up, get her (even though we know we shouldn’t) and she stays up for 20 more mins then we put her back down. Tonight, has been awful. After letting her cry for 15 mins (which is REALLY hard for me since I haven’t had to do this with her before) I went up and she had scratched her face, I rocked her, gave her some water and put her back down. She screamed soo hard for at least 15 more minutes, then she played in her crib before finally going to sleep around 9:30. I’m not sure why she’s doing this but I’m hoping it’s a QUICK phase that’ll end soon.

Activities: Singing songs, ring around the rosie, playing outside (she cries when its time to come in), dancing, jumping off the couch, going down her slide (in the basement), sitting at my temporary desk,
and playing hide-n-go-seek.

At restaurants we've moved out of high chairs and now into booster seats. Soph loves being in the "big girl seat!" We also let her hold her own ice cream cone on her own tonight and she didnt soo well.

Sunday Funday - Alum Creek

This morning we got up and went to Alum Creek (2 minutes from our house). Soph loved being outside, especially since it was really nice out. She even wore her sunglasses for acouple minutes.

Looking for boats and we actually saw acouple.

Sporting her new rain boots that Grandma Sharon bought her:
Riding her bike (which she's too big for now - but she kept yelling 'bike' and pointing to it) in the grass before we left this morning for Alum Creek:
She found the perfect walking stick like Grandpa Jim's:
Soph and Grandpa Jim walking with their walking sticks:
Walking on the tree like it's a balance beam:
 "Jump!"
Grandma Sharon and Soph watching Grandpa Jim skip rocks:
 Running towards the water:
We love Alum Creek and look forward to warmer weather so we can go there more often.

Cosi

Jim, Sharon, and their two neighbors came this weekend to help us start to finish our basement. :) Jim, Elliott, Matt and Kenny worked super hard Friday and Saturday and finished all the framing. We are soo lucky to have all their help. The next step is drywall. We're hoping to hire someone soon to start on that.

While the guys were busy working on the basement, Sharon, Soph and I went to Cosi. We had alot of fun.

First we went to the new exhibit, Mindbender Mansion and Amazing Mazes.

Then we had to visit the water table (Soph looks soo much older in this picture):

And no trip to Cosi is complete w/o playing doctor with the babies. Here Soph is giving the baby her medicine:

Soph loved having the air blow on her face:

Update...

I'm trying to catch up on blog posts. With us going to Mexico (a post is coming on that), me starting a new job, then going to New Orleans, it's been a busy couple of weeks. Here's some recent (within the last week) photos:

Soph is still obsessed with shoes and can surprisingly walk really well in any shoe - no matter the size (these are El's shoes which are size 13).

Here she's saying "cheese" :

Last Friday we went to the Beaty's and ordered take out. It was great seeing the kids and hanging out. Soph loves spending time with her cousins. I managed to get 1 photo of all three kids looking at me (not an easy task).

While we were in Mexico my parents watched Soph (thanks mom and dad) and she had soo much fun. Since my mom watches acouple kids during the day, Soph was able to play with other kids. My mom watches three boys, all of which are 3. The morning after we got back from Mexico I got this picture of Soph with her new friends:

18 Month Well Visit

Last Friday we took Soph for her 18 month well visit. Dr. Behrens was very impressed with Sophia. She said she's talking at a 2 year old level. Once Dr. Behrens starting asking her questions like "Where is your tummy?" Soph really started to ham it up and told and showed her where all her body parts were. She also started counting for her and saying her letters. She loves showing off. :) She had to get one shot and only cried for acouple seconds because I told her she'd get a sticker and she is OBSESSED with stickers.

Here's her stats
Weight: 25 pounds 10 ozs – 65th percentile
Height: 33 – 80th percentile
Head: 18.5” – 59th percentile

Compared to her 1 year appt.

Weight: 24.2 pounds – 88 percentile
Height: 30.5” – 87th percentile
Head: 17.9” – 60th percentile

Here's some photos I took at her appt. (all with my iPhone so the quality isn't the best):

In this photo she's saying "mine" and patting her belly.

They always take forever so we had to keep her entertained for awhile. This book did the job for acouple minutes.
She probably climbed this latter about 100 times.
