21 Months

In just three short months my baby will turn two. Soo sad! She has grown so much since last month. She’s saying more and more short sentences, has grown more independent and helpful and super sweet. She gives more hugs and kisses each day. J
Weight:
Birth 7.8 pounds
12 months 24.2
21 months 28.2

Food: Is still hit or miss. Sometimes she’ll eat really well…other days she barely eats. She loves peanut butter and could live off of peanut butter crackers if we’d let her. She also loves shrimp, marshmallows, suckers, cheese and bean quesadillas and hot dogs.
Words: She’s saying even more short sentences. I tried to remember some new ones:
“Get up!”
“There she is!”
“I made it!”
“No, I’m fine.”
“You’re fine.”
“I have it.”
“Here I come daddy.”
“I got a flower.”
“Sophie….. where are you?”
“Duck, duck, goose.”
“Ew Maya poont.”
What we hear all the time: “My turn,” “ahh man,” “I have it,” “oh my gosh.”
I took her to Kroger last week and as we passed the toy isle she yelled “I have it, I have it” talking about toys. Not sure where she learned that.
Soph picked up a new book that I've read to her just once. Each page has a different animal on it and it says “Are you a cow?”or whatever the animal is and then it says “No!” So Soph picked up the book and I heard her flipping through the pages saying “no” after each page. I couldn’t believe she remembered that it says “no” on each page.
Shapes: she knows oval, heart, triangle, square, diamond and star Numbers: she can count by twos to 8 (2, 4, 6, 8) Letters: she knows all her letters
Clothes: 2t and some 3t, size 5 diapers and size 6 shoes (same as last month)

Sleep: Sleep…or lack there of is more like it. This past month has been crazy. Soph started getting up several times a night acouple weeks ago. It was like having a newborn baby again. We were exhausted. After two weeks of this, I called the pediatrician who had me bring Soph in to make sure she didn’t have an ear infection…which she didn’t. She was fine. They said it was behavioral and normal at her age. So we have to let her cry for a little bit so she knows we won’t go in to check on her every 5 mins. It’s been getting better. Now she gets up every morning at 6 a.m. which we weren’t used to either but it’s much better than getting up several times a night.

Activities:
She loves being outside and doing anything outside including playing on her new swing set. She also loves playing dress up, painting, playing with play doh, coloring, climbing anything, dancing, being read to and putting on pants. She calls everything “pants” and tries putting them on like pants. She has one pair of shoes that she can put on herself, and on the right feet.
Potty training: She refuses to sit on the potty chair now. I continue to ask her before her bath each night if she wants to sit on the potty and after she says “no” so I don’t make her. I’m not going to push it on her.

The hitting stage that she went through last month hasn’t been as bad this month.
